This piece was created using a traditional Italian carving technique, known as “Batutto”, on the clear glass windows by using a cutting wheel on the lathe. The color pattern is a take on the classic Venetian glass process called “murrini.” Colors are repeatedly mixed and pulled into a bar and then cut into tiny slices before being added to the surface of the vessel.
